The Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival produced by the Brooklyn Bodega is a celebration of Hip-Hop music and culture. Our aim is to highlight Hip-Hop's legacy as an agent of artistic progression, community building and social change. We do this by producing a variety of events from musical performances, Family Day, film screenings, gallery shows and more.
The Festival is more than a concert or outdoor fair. It is more of a family reunion for lovers of this great culture. People come from Flatbush to Berlin to enjoy the Brooklyn sun. Our hope is to produce a world class event in Brooklyn where the best and brightest travel to Brooklyn. As well as celebrating Hip-Hop culture we want to establish Brooklyn as a worldwide destination. We also endeavor to support local artists from Brooklyn and the NYC area while not creating an insular event for, by and in Brooklyn.
In an effort to create a truly open event Brooklyn Bodega does everything in their power to keep the festival affordable.

At the Brooklyn Bodega we take a very liberal and intellectual view of Hip-Hop. Hip-Hop is more than music; it's fashion, politics, sports, philosophy, journalism, publishing, web design, technology, visual art, digital art, sculpture, graffiti, dance, DJ'ing, producing, and activism. In its sixth year the BHF will continue to reflect the full range of Hip-Hop culture. We want to celebrate it all.
This years festival will take place between July 5th- July 10th, 2010.
The new week long format features a showcase of independent local, national and international talent, panels, film, theater, and of course Main Day performances, and the Family Day Block Party. All events are held throughout Brooklyn from Williamsburg to DUMBO.

We are especially proud to be returning to the Brooklyn waterfront as it is being transformed into New York's premier park space.
"We have been fortunate enough to host the Festival along the beautiful Brooklyn coast line since our second year [2006]. When the word came down that our home, Empire Fulton Ferry State Park was being closed for renovation we began to work closely with Regina Meyer and the good people at The Brooklyn Bridge Development Corporation. I am excited that not only are we returning to the Tobacco Warehouse for our Main Day, July 10th but have also added Brooklyn Bridge Plaza and New Dock Street.
This increased space will allow us to produce two separate stages as well as build a large marketplace for our vendors."
- Wes Jackson, Executive Director, Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival
