THANK YOU to everyone who donated and supported the BHF’12 Kickstarter campaign.
Our 174 donors helped us raise $15,121 in under two weeks. It was pretty dope to see our friends, fams and industry contacts pledging money until the very last minutes.
It was definitely a nerve-wracking final few hours but because of everyone’s generosity, the BHF ’12 Kickstarter campaign has been fully funded and will be used towards our production costs.

We thank you for your help. A combination of factors were threatening the Festival’s mission statement of keeping ticketing affordable for all. To combat these problems the obvious thing for us to do would be to raise the ticket price and pass the cost along to our patrons.
Unfortunately that would price out the local community and work counter to our mission. Young families, our youth and a wide swath of folks from Red Hook to Flatbush will be locked out. And that is simply not what we’re about.
We are about pushing the art form forward and creating a word class event where all can participate. White, Black, Latino, Asian and every combination thereof. Rich, poor, from East New York to Brooklyn Heights and beyond.
We thank everyone who helped contribute to keep the Festival accessible to everyone.

Your part in this: Brooklyn Bodega called on like-minded Bodega Soldiers to put their money up and got some skin in the game. Friends, family and fans shared our message by donating their time.
